"The Lasting Power" is the debut album of Thy Majestie. It is a concept-album
inspired by a great fantasy book : "The Sword of Shannara" by Terry Brooks
It was recorded by Maurizio Brioschi in March 2000 at G.B.Studios (Milan)
and was released in October 2000 by Scarlet records. The cover and booklet
artwork are by Giuseppe Bondì . The executive production of the choirs are by
Thy Majestie. The choirs were recorded in Palermo at the Red Studios by some
members of the glorious "Teatro Massimo Opera Choir" from Palermo . All the
choir's score are by Dario Grillo.

After the record deal with Scarlet , Thy Majestie had to work very hard to finish the composition of their songs and of the choirs' scores . While Claudio Diprima , Giuseppe Bondì and Dario D'Alessandro were recording their instruments in Milan , Dario Grillo recorded all the choir in only two days in Palermo : it was hard work ! When Dario Grillo came to Milan to record the vocal parts he brought the recordings of the choirs and then it was mixed with the rest . Unfortunately we had very little time to mix the songs but the result was very good .Some songs are featured by the sweet voice of Eva Rondinelli from Dakrua: an incredible performance from a great gothic singer.
We recorded with acoustic drums with no electronic help, the guitars were
recorded with a combo and the bass by direct insert "The Lasting Power" now reach the goal of 10.000 copies sold , this is a great result for a newcomer band . Unfortunately no one was interested in licensing the debut in Japan ( what a pity!) where is more simple to sell a good number of copies ,but no problem because "TLP" was licensed in other countries for example like Brazil by Megahard records : the brazilian version contains two
great bonus tracks : "Facing the beast" , "Hywelbane" .

"The lasting power" , mirrors different musical shades : power, energy , melody , drama , passion & technique. The influences of Thy Majestie are several, and this is what makes their style
unique, full of facets that hug power-metal ,progressive, and classical music;
One of the most important peculiarity is the contamination with folk music:
Celtic ballads , flutes , melodic acoustic guitars, harps and other instruments
typical of medieval music help the listener to join an atmosphere of Middle Age
where honour and loyalty were the way of life ....

But the still soul of the band is power-metal,and you can hear that, listening to
the rhythm arrangements by thrashing double bass-drum, but at the same time various
and original, and furthermore with continuous tempos jerkings: the result is a
non-boring music in spite of the length of the tracks.

The arrangements were created to be mighty and melodic at the same time. An
important role is done by the keyboards that with medieval melodies feature the
songs, and the guitars that support them by powerful rhythm sections followed by
the main vocal melodies, the choirs provide to turn the song more powerful.
