I'm Claudio and I play drums with Thy Majestie . I was born in Palermo, one of the biggest cities in the south of Italy , and there I live today. Now I'll tell you about my life but please don't get bored now : )
When I was 5 , my father bought me a little motorbike and since then I 've fallen in love with motorbikes , cars and everything about motors. I spent every day running up and down with my brother Alberto seated on the back , engaging races with friends and other people .When I was 16 my father bought me a real motorbike : a wonderful KTM 125 and two year later a KTM 250 ! I began racing in the Regional Championship of Enduro and Motocross and I won some races !
This part of my life was important because I met Manfredi Messina; this incredible man (if you knew him you would be agree with me that he is crazy!!!) initiated me to the Heavy Metal! The first album he let me know was Skid Row and I'll never forget songs like "18 & life" or "Youth gone Wild" or "Big Guns" . From this moment I started buying Cd ,Lp and other things about metal , I became a Metal Maniac ! I couldn't listen to any other kind of music but metal . So I decided to play the music that I loved so much. The passion for motorbikes will never end but the music is in my soul, that's why I decided to give up motorbikes and I started dedicating my time to playing drums .
I started playing with a teacher, but I had to give up because at the
same time I attended university to study Pharmacy and I didn't have enough
time to dedicate to my drums. In 1999 I got my degree and I started playing my drums more regulary . I 'm a Maniac
of double bass drums , I would play just with a snare drum and a
couple of bass drums and nothing else. I had
my first experiences playing covers : Danger Danger, White Lion, Def
Leppard, and other AOR and Class Metal covers . But after two years a
little dream came true: playing with a Street-Glam Metal band ! I founded
the band (called
Squeezy Boyz) with Dario Grillo. We played live with make-up and
dressed to kill! It was very funny ! But after one year the band splitted
.
It happened during this period of my life that I
met Giuseppe Bondě: we understood each other immediately! We started playing covers of Stratovarius
and Malmsteen, but after
a few months Giuseppe let me listen a piece of what would become "Under Siege" so
I started playing a double bass pattern and we discovered that it sounded
very cool so we decided to create our music
and we gave up playing covers . This is the beginning of Thy
Majestie ! We spent a lot of time looking for other players because we
had been looking for people who really believed in music and in our project . So I
called Dario Grillo to sing in my new band because at the time I considered him one of the best singers in Palermo,
so with the help of Maurizio Malta , Giovanni and Michele Cristofalo we started the composition of
Perpetual Glory, our first demo, and so on...
Giuseppe and me are the clowns of the band . We
enjoy making laugh the people with our characters like "Kaing", "u' signň
Nuafriu", "Penčtra (The queen of the night!)" , but Giuseppe is great
with his Mr .Pazzone you can see some photo of Mr. Pazzone in the Photo Gallery.
My favourite kinds of metal are : Street-Glam , AOR , Class Metal , Epic Power , Power Prog,
Classic Metal, and sometimes Death . I dislike every band that offends Christianity, not beacause I 'm an out-and-out
christian but because I consider this kind of Metal stupid and without
creativity ; I consider Heavy Metal a music full of passion, melody, drama, feelings and I'm not able to
find these things in satanic metal.
I'm also a
fan of medieval age and fantasy books .
Terry Brooks with the Saga of Shannara and Tolkien are some my favourites.
I love castles and all about Middle Age, that I consider a fashinating
period .
