The band was founded in 1998 on an idea of Giuseppe Bondì (keyboards) and Claudio Diprima(drums). They played together in a power-metal cover band but one day they decided to create their own music .

So they started searching for musicians that had faith in their project and they found them in : Maurizio Malta , Giovanni Santini , Michele Cristofalo and Dario Grillo.

After the release of a 3-track demo entitled "Sword ,Crown and Shields" they started to compose new material that was recorded in March 1999; this demo was called "Perpetual Glory"and it was entirely self-produced.
"Perpetual Glory" received very good responses in all the Italian metal magazines (Top demo on Metal Hammer ,May 1999) and fanzines. So in August 1999 the band signed a deal with Scarlet Records
Meanwhile Michele Cristofalo left the band to join "Carabinieri" Army, and Dario D'Alessandro took his place.

In March 2000 they started the recordings of "The Lasting Power", the debut album, the album was completed in April 2000.
"The Lasting power" received a great response worldwide in spite of a weak production. The band was still quite young, and the songs of TLP feel the effect of their immaturity. At that time, Rhapsody (today Rhapsody of Fire) were gaining popularity and success, and Thy Majestie were compared to them. We think that any comparison was stupid, because Thy Majestie at the time was a really inexperienced band and our songs quite immature.

In July 2001 Thy Majestie decided to record  "1066", a  promo/demo Cd self-produced that wasn't released. It was used to "arrange" the new songs . But two songs were put  on the Internet and received thousands of dowloadings and great pubblic response .

In September 2001 LIMB Music (ex-producer of Rhapsody) noticed Thy Majestie and after they have listened "1066" Limb proposed the possibilty of a deal, but Thy Majestie had signed for two albums with Scarlet and so it wasn't possible.

In January 2002 Thy Majestie were contacted by Thomas Youngblood , he proposed them an european tour to support his Kamelot .Great chance! Unfortunately Thy Majestie couldn't afford the tour expences only by themselves and they had to record the new album only 2 months later .

In March 2002 Thy Majestie  join the recording studio ( The Outer Sound Studios in Rome ) again to record "Hastings 1066". The  album was  based on a concept story about the epic battle of Hastings in 1066 a.C. fought by Normans and Saxons . The style of the band moved to a power-prog style without leaving the symphonic style.  The recording sessions finished in May 3rd. The album was released by Scarlet Records in September 2002.

The album received great reviews and response Worldwide, and everyone noticed that Thy Majestie had improved a lot their songwriting, their musician skills and the production. They took care of every  little detail,  and the new sound of the band is a mix of Power Metal,  Progressive parts,  celtic interludes, majestic opera Choirs (performed by the Choir of Palermo Massimo Theater).

In December 2002 Thy Majestie supported Vision Divine for a mini-tour in the North of Italy. It was an amazing experience.

In November 2003 Dario Grillo leaves the band. From now on a dark period of Thy Majestie's career begins. After many troubles (they had a 8 months experience with Gabriele Grilli , Doomsword's former singer) Thy Majestie found a new singer. He is Giulio Di Gregorio. In Septmber 2004 Thy Majestie joined again the recording studio. This time they chose to record the new album in their own studio. Claudio Diprima (the drummer) is the producer.  The recordings are full of troubles and Giulio took a lot of time to learn the songs. The recording are finished in June 2005!

"Jeanne d'Arc" ,  the third album of Thy Majestie is released again for Scarlet Records in October 2005. The sound is simplified, less choirs , less orchestrations, more Metal. The band has reached now a good level of maturity, and the album received many good reviews.

In April 2006 (5 months after the album release, due to Giulio's health problems) Thy Majestie play the first (and unique) concert with Giulio. Due to his many health problems and to his lack of knowledge of the English language (and much more...)  they decide that Giulio can't sing anymore with them.

While it seemed that the dark period was over when Giulio joined the band, Thy Majestie have to face again the reality. They don't have a singer.

In May 2006 Matt Aub (american singer and guitar player for the band Timelord) join the band for some months. But they realized that it was too difficult to work with a singer that lives thousands miles away.

So in November 2006, Dario Grillo re-joins Thy Majestie!  Many fans were waiting for that since the moment that Dario left the band

Now the band is working on their 4th album.
