The Lasting Power is a concept album based on "The Saga of Hataria
that was written by Claudio Diprima and Dario Grillo.
It was freely inspired by The Sword of Shannara by the great fantasy
writer Terry Brooks.



his is the story of Arter, first knight of Hataria, son to Heroid and to Teresia 
(queen of Durnovaria).

Hataria was a small reign that stand in a forest populated by thousands of creatures,
who lived in peace preserving the mystery: a millenary tree, guardian of another
dimension: the Gates of Return ,where Draita, Lord of the Damned, and his troops have
been sent by the ancient magic of elf Ireen  hundreds of years ago.

But unexplainable the tree was taken hill and its branches couldn't have held the Gates closed
for a long time. Thus the Forces of Damned, once free, could launch sudden attacks
to Hataria.They were looking for Hywelbane, the holy sword, the only one that could 
fight Draita and cast the spell to close the Dimension for ever.;

Arter, while dreaming, felt the arrive of Draita and his black troops. The fate showed him ancient battles where
   brave warriors defended the reigns even by losing their lives and families.     Visions of death and storms haunted his mind.
  "When the Northern Winds will blow over the Shade's Lagoon, Draita will cross the Dragon's Valley.From that moment forth, battle will be raging"

Wings of Wind
  s Arter dreamt, Draita's troops were going to cross the Dragon's Valley. Arter was in 
his town with Eloira, his wife, and Airo, the betraying servant, and he didn't imagine 
that his dreams were going to turn true. King Heroid, after having gathered his most
faithful knights, prepared the defences ordering to his army to resist until their last breath.

Under Siege
    he Heroid's army had been defeated. Several brave knights losing their lives purified 
the Dragon's Valley with their blood.The king, after having sighed his last words, by 
which he designated Arter as his successor, died . The battle was lost but not the whole
war; the hard resistance turned this day as victorious 
Teresia crying told to Arter about his father’s death. Oddly he felt Heroid’s soul
near his own. His rage was great and his sadness was deep. Down to the streets of 
Durnovaria, Arter met Itrok, deputy boss of the White Elves of the Forest (the designate
guardians of the Magical Tree); Itrok invited him to spend some days at his village.

rter arrived at Dury after seeing the magical tree . He found only desolation and
death: Draita’s armies passed through there, leaving nothing but the winds moans. Many
courageous warriors gave their lives to defend the village and now their souls wander
in the Beyond . After having looked at the lifeless bodies, Arter moved away and cursed
the fate.The prophecy showed Arter his forthcoming victory and the way to find Hywelbane

  rter turned back to Hataria and there he met Airo who told him about his treachery :
his sorrow was as huge as his sin

rter disappointed and saddened, went to his father’s castle and after a time of
meditation he reached the Isle of Eron. Here lived Nymph Syphiride, she trusted in
him and she tried to encourage Arter to fight the final battle.
